In a mould the hot melt is conveyed to individual impression through the feed system. It feeds by a gate which is simply a restriction in the flow path. Runner and gate design represents a compromise of many factors. The runner must be large enough too facilitate rapid filling of the impression but not so large as to significantly increase the time required to freeze the material in the runner. One of the most important factors of runner and gate design is balancing to ensure that each impression fills at the same rate. Therefore, It was studied by analyze the flow motion in the feed system of the injection mould. The cross-sectional shape of the runner in a mould is assumed as fully round. Flow of a melted resine as liquid through a contraction (Gate) between upstream and downstream regions of fully developed laminar flow has been studied by combining a graphical and streamline analysis method.
